Question about pronounciating koreans names...?

Okay so this is the 2nd drama I've watched and I'm confused..in Boys over flower the main actress was Geum Jan Di...but people would call her Jandi-ah..I thought it was her only..but in dream high its the same..they would call Hye Mi..Hye Mi-ah...why is that?
